History
In 2002, looking to expand its flooring product offering, Rickway Carpet of North Mankato, MN purchased a dealership from Southwest Putting Greens Technologies., and established Midwest Putting Greens to sell and install synthetic golf greens.
SPGT is the
recognized
leader in professional backyard synthetic golf greens. With over 25 touring professionals in their portfolio, SPGT clearly is the professional's choice for personal, private practice facilities.
In 2002 SWGMN selected Standard Golf Company as its sole supplier of professional golf green supplies.
In 2004, Nicklaus Design chose SPGT as its sole outlet for installation of synthetic golf greens under the Nicklaus Design name. The discriminating golfer can now have a backyard practice facility designed, installed and certified by Nicklaus Design.
From 2003 to 2007, Southwest Greens of Minnesota installed over 60 golf greens, tee lines, and synthetic turf projects. These include private residential installations, commercial and institutional projects. SWGMN also assisted on the installation of golf greens for 2 PGA professionals during this period.
In early 2006, MPG was purchased by current ownership and was brought under the name Midwest Sports Supply, Inc name. Midwest Putting Greens name was changed to Southwest Greens of Minnesota to better utilize SPGT's market position.
Expanding the synthetic turf business into athletic field installation, MSS partnered with Pro Turf Solutions of Oregon. PTS has installed synthetic turf athletic fields across the nation, including 8 of 22 synthetic turf fields installed for the city of Las Vegas, NV in 2006. PTS offers Facility Managers and Activities Directors a total turnkey solution from excavating and drainage, to turf installation and maintenance.
MSS also represents FLEX COURTS Athletics as Flex Court of Minnesota. FLEX COURT manufactures modular suspended sports flooring. For both indoor and outdoor installation, FLEX COURT tiles are UV protected, designed to minimize both vertical and lateral stress on ankles, knees and hips. The Research and Materials Testing Institute of the University of Struttgart, Germany has performed DIN testing, and the surface is
endorsed
by orthopedic surgeons.
Additional product lines have been added, such as BatCo, Challenger, Carron Netting, Douglas, Goal Setter, Diamond Dry, Portolite, Porta Flex Fencing, and Stackhouse.
